Alicia is the proud winner of the prestigious Newton le Willows Rotary Young Photographer of the Year Award 2023.

Ali has a keen interest in photography and this dovetails with her fantastic talent for art. This year the competition theme was the beauty of architecture. Ali sprang into action, taking lots of shots of the local Emmanuel Parish Church until she got the lighting, tone and aspect just right. Ali’s clever trick of planting the steeple top just beyond the frame means that the viewer automatically scans the church from the base up, taking in the different colours.

Ali said: “Whenever I think of architecture I think of churches, their old run-down design with how it has looked like it has aged beautifully with time. This helps me remember how something old and worn down with time can become something beautiful with age and things around.”
